 | Brock Franz Pathoon was born on the 7th of December. It was a cold night at the end of 1983. His parents, Angus and Bambi, after hours of labor, were overfilled with joy to see their new son, Brock, was born. He was diagnosed with hemophilia at the age of seven and his family did what they could to treat the disease. When he was fifteen, he took up a job as a paperboy and I was on his route. I was somewhat of a recluse and I had not left the house for quite some time and he was a kid with spark, we soon developed a keen friendship. Since my daily newspaper was my only connection to the outside world, he became my only friend. The three years I knew Brock were the best years of my life. Hemophilia finally took his life when, at the ripe age of eighteen, he was injured in a camping incident and was unable to be brought back to safety in time. His funeral was the first time I had left the house in thirty years. On that day I vowed to make a website for my lost friend, to educate people about this awful disease. While hemophilia may not be extremely deadly, it still kills. I urge everyone to please learn as much as possible about this disease and join organizations to fight it. Please give what you can, financially or otherwise, not for me, but for Brock. God bless us, everyone. | |
